FESTIVAL OF TALENTS HAVE YOU EVER POLISHED A

Last year I had the idea of a Festival of Talents POPPYHEAD ?
at Leighton Church, which I thought might go
well combined with harvest festival. It was Leighton Church is always there for
patiently explained to me that this was a daft EVERYONE - your high days and low
idea (which it was). There’s enough going on days, weddings, christenings, funerals
at harvest without adding anything else into and remembrance. We would welcome
the mix! anyone who could spare a few minutes
But I still rather like the idea of a Festival of to help spruce up the inside of the
Talents. Our community is full of people who church for spring. Do come along, with
have interesting and sometimes unusual or without cleaning equipment.
hobbies, pastimes, skills or sporting abilities. SATURDAY 13th APRIL 10 - 12 am.
The festival would use our beautiful church Coffee and biscuits included.
building as a place to share or even show off A small PRIZE for anyone who comes
the talents and interests people have, maybe and identifies a poppyhead in church !
encourage new people to share some of those
interests, and at the same time attract visitors Where is it?
to the church and village. A bit like a flower
festival, but without the flowers - unless
flowers is what you do!
So, steering well clear of harvest, I’ve settled
on the weekend of 12th-14th July, and I’d love
to invite anyone and everyone in the
community - what talent, interest, hobby
could you display? Please think about it - it
would be great to have our church building
full of displays, achievements and ideas!
Please get in touch (552064 /
wkrowell@btinternet.com) if you’d like to
know more. There will be planning meeting in
May (details in the next Leighton News).
