A local pilot, and long time Long Mountain resident David Lawson, has swapped

planes for planes and aircraft for woodcraft to scratch his creative itch.

I set up Border Bespoke
to provide bespoke
carpentry, joinery and
furniture. We specialise in
made to measure unique
projects, with emphasis on
traditional skills and
craftsmanship. We can offer fitting on site, along with property repairs
and renovations. Our projects have been as diverse as bespoke
jewellery boxes, tables, built in storage, kitchens, stair repairs, timber
outbuildings and old house renovations.

I started out as a carpenter and furniture maker, then ran my own property
management company before training as a commercial pilot. I spent the last
15 years flying initially as a helicopter pilot and more recently flying
aeroplanes. During all of this time I continued designing, building and
creating, never losing the fascination I felt from an early age making things in

my father s shed.

Flying might seem like a
glamorous job, but after 15
years it can become
surprisingly mundane. A change to a more practical career
beckoned when I realised that I was enjoying the days in my
workshop much more than my days in the air.

We are now operating from our small but well equipped
workshops on Long Mountain where I can often be found
designing, building, or repairing all sorts of wooden objects.

On other days I m out on site fitting bespoke
storage and doing
house repairs & renovations. A HAPPY CUSTOMERS!
