Another success for local
democracy thanks to the
survey organised by our
Montgomery AM, Russell
George. Following the
crazy decision to close or
reduce recycling centres
to limited opening, Russell
conducted an online poll
with 1,000s of responses.
There was overwhelming
dissatisfaction with all
aspects of Powys refuse
arrangements. Thankfully
from September the recyl-
ing centre at Welshpool is
now open 5 days a week

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW* Maris ready for action

Sometime towards the end of June we noticed that it was quite difficult to see out
of our dining room window. It was then that we realised our windows

had not been cleaned since October. It turned out that our elderly

cleaner had fallen off his ladder and been invalided into retirement.

This was an opportunity to try one of the long-term Trade Directory
advertisers, Window Wipers. Run by Maris Teteris, the company uses
distilled water made by trickling through a resin filter overnight.
The van sets out with 350 gallons on board. On site, the water
is pumped through very long hoses and very tall wiper poles so all
parts of large buildings are accessible —even skylights on a roof
can be reached. Because there are no impurities in the water, after
the windows are ‘wipered’
they are left wet and dry
with no smears, and stay
clean longer — that’s the
theory and it works!
