Forden with Leighton & Trelystan
Community Council
I always consider myself so lucky to live in Leighton with everything that goes on both here and in
Trelystan, and I realise that all these things don’t “just happen” in the villages, in fact they are carefully
planned and worked on connuously by a huge band of volunteers, un‐sung heroes. So, on behalf of
everyone, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work;
Leighton village hall commiee
Leighton School Governors
Leighton Parent & Toddler commiee
Churchwardens and Church Council members for Leighton & Trelystan churches
The church sides‐people, bellringers, cleaners, florists, readers and churchyard clearers for both
Churches Village hall car‐park clearers and hedge brushers
Village playground clearers and maintainers
Bus stop clearers and cleaners
Newsleer editor and team, treasurer, contributors and delivery people
Community Councillors
All those local people who risk life and limb clearing our roads in the snow
Village Website maintenance
All those who volunteer to help others here each day and have done so in the past
I hope I haven’t missed anyone out, but we appreciate everything you all do.
We were told at the last Community Council meeng that we should advise members of the public to
contact Powys directly If they have any issues with highways—pot holes etc— as Powys tend to deal with
members of the public quicker than community councils. Please therefore contact Dave Gardener directly
on dave.gardener@powys.gov.uk.
If you wish to see a copy of the minutes from the Community Council meengs then please see
www.fordenwithleightonandtrelystancc.co.uk.
Finally, the Community Council would like to request any informaon anyone has on the
Tirdu Charity which was set up to benefit widows, widowers and educaonal aid for the
residents of the Leighton & Trelystan parishes in about 1780. If you have any documents or any
background knowledge at all then please contact Rachel on rbb@hotmail.co.uk,
Carol Alexander on 01938 580395 or Bill Jones on 01938 580477 urgently.
Thank you, we really appreciate your help on this maer. RT
