WORLD BOOK DAY
To encourage pupils and their parents to discuss and become involved with the books they have read, this year’s
initiative was a special school day where pupils would come dressed up as their favourite character from a book.
Have a look at the Star Readers in Leighton School on page 10 — can you recognise their fictional characters?
Unfortunately, in other parts of the UK the initiative was less successful. One mother sent her son to school dressed
as an Argos catalogue — as this was the only ‘book’ he had ’read’.
