Pat and Laura Poole would like to thank all those who helped them celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary
with a Black-Tie event at Leighton Village Hall on Sat 2nd September.
In particular our vocalist Libby for singing to us throughout the evening. Rikki Lloyd for all his
hard work in preparing food for nearly one hundred people. Also to Craig at The Angel for the
loan of table and chairs, Michael the Guitarist who played to everyone on entry to the hall.
The Sole Jets for the evening dancing and to Catherine Williams for her artistry in making
such a fantastic cake. A very big 'thank you' to Carys Owen for her two vocal renditions, one
with ukulele and the other without music, fantastic. Thanks to everyone who contributed in
any way, especially Jane Walton for her inventive table numbers.
However the biggest 'thank you' has to go to Chris Walton who worked tirelessly in creating a fantastic
arrangements of flowers, whether for the tables or throughout the hall. This was something to behold.
We particularly requested No Presents so thank you to all those who decided to do so anyway. We requested
that anyone so inclined might like to make a donation to the Welsh Air Ambulance. Thank you to everyone
who donated, we achieved the magnificent total of £1,000. Thank you all once again. WHAT A NIGHT.

BIRTHDAYS
Happy Birthday to David Williams who was 50 on September 10th

And to Henry Williams who will be 18 on 12th of October

We would like to welcome our new neighbours at the Vicarage, Leighton — Rees, Charmaine, Eliot,
Melissa and Toby — plus Cookie and Monty the dogs.

Hurray! Alannah Holloway finally gets her Green Card to go with her California
Trainer’s Licence. Alannah can now stay in the US and keep riding in the sun for as
long as she wants. What a relief — for the rest of the family!

Leighton School have recently experienced a lot of dumping of rubbish alongside their bins
and more importantly a number of wine bottles dumped there. This not only made it very
inconvenient as the school pay a great deal for the rubbish collection and need the capacity.
It was also was unsightly for the village in general and of course the car park is used for games
and any injury caused by the glass is to be avoided at all costs.
